West Ham keeper David Martin breaks down after helping his side beat Chelsea on Premier League debut. His clean sheet helped them pick up a shock victory at Stamford Bridge.
Before the international break, Chelsea were on a run of 6 victories. West Ham on the other hand, were on a 7-game winless run. One week after the break and Chelsea’s winning streak was snapped while West Ham extended their winless run to 8.
Despite their loss to Manchester City and draw against Valencia, Chelsea were favourites against West Ham. They were playing at home after all; their first since the resumption of club football. However, the Hammers picked up the unlikeliest of victories to extend Chelsea’s own barren run to 3.
The win was special for every West Ham supporter. Not only had they snapped their winless streak, they did it at the lair of one of their London rivals. However, for one man, the moment was quite possibly much more special than anyone else.
