Is Shaquille O’Neal not one of the most dominant centers to ever play basketball? After retiring from sports, Shaq invested his time in various areas, including music. He established himself as a renowned rapper in the industry and achieved success since the 90s. Despite his imposing appearance, Shaq has a big heart. He ensures that musicians and singers have a platform to showcase their talent, promoting them on his social media. Recently, he used his Instagram account, followed by 31,400,000 million people, to promote rap legend Loaded Lux.

In 2012, Shaq had a freestyle rap session with Loaded Lux and is now promoting the legendary rapper’s story. At the time, Shaq had strong opinions about Dwight Howard, who was playing for the Lakers, adding to his motivation. The four-time NBA champion delivered a concise but precise rap, specifically targeting Howard for adopting the “Superman” nickname that Shaq had for himself.

Shaq used his Instagram to promote Loaded Lux’s freestyle rap. In the rap, Lux targeted the New York Knicks, a once-successful NBA franchise now struggling to stay competitive. The song included the line, At this point, you gotta keep hoping like a Knicks fan. Despite their hopes for improvement, the Knicks fans are still waiting for a savior. Lux also referenced the beef between Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe in his song.

Shaq ripped Dwight Howard with his rap lyric in 2012

Shaq and Howard have been beefing for a while. DJ Diesel escalated the beef when he rapped with Loaded Lux to send a message to Howard. In the lyrics, Shaq asked Dwight to ask LeBron James who the real Superman is. The beef over the Superman title has been ongoing for years. Howard even participated in a dunk competition wearing a Superman suit. In the rap, Shaq said:

“Like I said before/You will get devoured/But don’t you ever call me/Dwight Howard/Ask that boy LeBron/Who’s the real Superman?”

Interestingly, Howard claims to be the real Superman of the NBA, which Shaq disagrees with. According to O’Neal, Howard may have wanted to emulate him. Additionally, Shaq is upset that DH copied his Superman nickname.
