Luis Suarez had bizarrely appealed for a handball after Chile’s shot-stopper saved a shot.
Luis Suarez had bizarrely appealed for a handball while in action against Chile. The striker was forced out wide by Gabrial Arias in a one-v-one situation. While Suarez took too much time with the ball to find a solution, the shot-stopper was present in front of the striker to cut out the supply for others in the middle.
When the Barcelona striker tried to find Edinson Cavani in the middle, the goalkeeper stretched his hands to reach out to that shot. He, eventually, was able to parry the ball to a corner. Suarez, in regular swing, had appealed for a handball when the goalkeeper used his hand to save the shot.
The 32-year-old must have forgotten to differentiate the outfielder and goalkeeper for a second. Then, he found a way to somewhat make up to that action by keeping his hand on his head. Classic Luis Suarez.

The Internet broke after this moment when Suarez was confused for a second. Fans are endlessly laughing at his action.

Not sure what the fuss about this is.
Suarez sees the ball hit a players hand and naturally begins to ask for a handball for a second, then realizes its the keeper and tries to play it off by putting his hands over his head.
Split second confusion.

Despite the appeals, I think somewhere deep down Suárez knows a handball call would have been unlikely…pic.twitter.com/nTfqGkFCNp

There is only 1 player in the world who would call for a handball against the goalkeeper: Luis #Suarez.pic.twitter.com/vGHUVwkP7w

Yup, I saw right. Luis Suarez definitely appealed for a handball in the box a few minutes ago. The handball he wanted was by the goalkeeper.

It was a split second confusion, but Suarez’s side topped the table and ensured a Quarterfinals clash against Peru on Saturday. Edinson Cavani’s second-half header was the difference between these two sides. Meanwhile, Chile will face Colombia, hosts Brazil play Paraguay, and Venezuela take on Argentina.
