Man City News: Pep Guardiola talks about Leroy Sane's proposed Bayern Munich move

Pep Guardiola has talked about Leroy Sane’s proposed move to Bayern Munich.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said he wants to keep Leroy Sane in Manchester despite interest from Bayern Munich.

The German international has been linked with a move to the Bavarians, but the deal is getting dragged. It is mainly down to the ludicrous demands from the English side, who want no lesser than £100 million.

The former Schalke forward is in continued negotiations with the German club, but the clubs fail to conclude a deal. Pep Guardiola eyes Real Sociedad winger Mikel Oyarzabal if the deal materializes for Sane.

Guardiola said: “I know the rumours exist. I want players who want to stay.

“The player didn’t tell me anything, that’s the reality. He is our player and we want him to stay.”

Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac claimed he was ‘very confident’ about the deal, but phoned Pep Guardiola to apologize.

Sane joined the Premier League champions from Schalke for £37m in 2016, but he made just 21 league starts for the Blues last term and negotiations over an extension to his existing deal appear to be no closer to resolution.

“We tried to extend the contract for more than a year, we were quite close a month ago but now it’s a bit different. I cannot say anymore,” Guardiola added.

Despite playing second fiddle to Raheem Sterling in the left-wing, Leroy Sane managed to bag 10 goals and 10 assists in 31 games for the Citizens. With no guaranteed starting time at Etihad Stadium, the winger had a long thought before Bayern Munich came calling.

The long-servants Frank Ribery and Arjen Robben have left the German Champions, leaving a huge loophole in the attacking department. Henceforth, Leroy Sane is seen as an ideal replacement for Frank Ribery.

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

It will be a huge miss for Manchester City if Leroy Sane leaves the club before the transfer window ends.
