VAR controversy hit the Champions league again as Fernando Llorente scored with his thigh for Tottenham vs Manchester City to give Spurs the lead again.
A high-voltage drama panned out in the game between Manchester City and Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium.
The match saw five goals in the opening 21 minutes with City scoring thrice, as Raheem Sterling bagged a brace. The host side continued to dominate possession and Sergio Aguero gave the side a lead in the tie for the first time.
However, Manchester City’s lead was short-lived, as Fernando Llorente, who came on as a substitute for Moussa Sissoko, scored a rather uncanny goal with his thigh.
Justifiably, referee seek the assistance of VAR to determine whether it was a goal or not.

If Tottenham manages to hold on to the lead, the side will face Ajax in the semifinal of the Champions League.
Manchester City, meanwhile, will face a second consecutive exit from the quarterfinals of the tournament. Interestingly, it was another Premier League side, Liverpool, who defeated Man City in this stage last season.
What next?
This won’t be the final meeting between the two sides this week. Manchester City and Tottenham also play each other in the Premier League on Saturday, as City aims to stay alive in the title race.
Tottenham, meanwhile, can’t afford to drop points as well, as they face an intense battle for the top-4.
