Man Utd team news vs PSG: Anthony Martial is likely to miss the game against Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League.

Manchester United will take on PSG in the second leg of the round-of-16 clash on Wednesday.

The side suffered a 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford in the first leg, but faced further setback throughout the course of February.

Solskjaer is facing a massive dilemma ahead of the heavyweight clash as the side is likely to be without 10 first-team stars. It all began in the first leg itself, when Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard suffered injuries and were forced off the field.

In the league game against Liverpool, Nemanja Matic was ruled out with a training session injury, while Ander Herrera and Juan Mata were all substituted in the first half itself.

A second-choice midfield is set to be in action against Paris Saint Germain as well, as Paul Pogba is suspended from the game after picking up a red card in the final stages of the first leg.

Solskjaer has now stated that it would be very unlikely for Anthony Martial to gain match fitness for the PSG clash. Manchester United will take on Arsenal in another significant league game later in the week, and it would be of little use to risk a half-fit Martial for the Champions League fixture.

Earlier, Solskjaer took the gamble with Jesse Lingard during the game against Liverpool. However, the English attacker further aggravated his injury and came off minutes after being brought on to the field.

“I don’t think we can risk it,” Solskjaer said. “He [Martial] has not been training yet so I don’t think so.

“We have been away to Arsenal and Tottenham with a diamond and done really well so we have just got to think about how we are going to do things.”

Alexis Sanchez also picked an injury against Southampton in the weekend clash against Southampton at Old Trafford. It is feared that the Chilean has suffered ligament damage.

Diogo Dalot was brought on to replace Alexis Sanchez and played brilliantly as Manchester United secured a comeback. Solskjaer, however, stressed that he might twist the formation for the PSG clash and talked about Romelu Lukaku, who rose to the challenge after being reinstalled in the starting XI due to multiple injuries.

“He knows what his strengths are and his strengths are going towards goal, finishing, running in behind,” said the Norwegian caretaker manager.

“When we get him too deep in the pitch maybe that doesn’t suit him at times, but he has responded fantastically to everyone who wants to criticise him.”

Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford are likely to be the two players leading the attack for Manchester United when they face PSG.

What next for Man United?

Manchester United will face Arsenal in the Premier League fter the second-leg against Paris Saint Germain. The race for the top four is almost evenly poised after United regained the fourth position with a dramatic 3-2 win over Southampton.

Arsenal, meanwhile, dropped points against Tottenham in the final North London derby of the season. The side has slipped to fifth position, but could move above United with a win over Solskjaer’s men.

Chelsea have a game in hand and could create trouble for both the sides. Only two points seperate all the three sides in the 4th, 5th and 6th position respectively.

Tottenham have also been shaky over the last few weeks, and the gap between them and Manchester United has reduced to three points.

At the top of the table, Manchester City regained the first position after Liverpool were held to a goalless draw by their Merseyside rivals, Everton.
