Man Utd Transfer News: Ajax confirm United’s interest in star midfielder as the club deal with the financial implication of the coronavirus outbreak.
Former Manchester United goalkeeper and current Ajax CEO, Edwin Van der Sar has revealed that Manchester United are among the clubs who are interested in signing Donny van de Beek.
‘It’s clear that clubs like Real Madrid and are Manchester United are showing interest in Donny van de Beek,’ Van Der Sar told NOS.

The Dutchman has long been linked with Real Madrid. However, the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, which has greatly affected the world, has also left its mark on the financial aspect of the game. Even Spanish giants, Real Madrid are reeling from the downturn and will have to review their spending; at least in the short term.
This leaves Manchester United in pole position to purchase the midfielder; One, they have reportedly been tracking for the last two years.
There won’t be a 50% discount
Van Der Sar has already said that the club would allow their star players to leave the club if an offer came along. However, regardless of the financial situation right now, he warned suitors not to expect a discount on the midfielder or any other player.
‘Last year, we made verbal agreements with [Andre] Onana, [Nicolas] Tagliafico and Van de Beek to stay another season, and then we look to help each other and find the next step in their careers,” said Van der Sar, as reported by Sky Sports earlier this month.
‘Nothing has changed. There won’t be a 50% discount. The clubs can forget about that.’
Ajax have already sold star winger Hakim Ziyech to Chelsea with the deal completed back in February. However, Ziyech was to stay back at Netherlands and will now join Chelsea at the onset of the next season.
