Brendan Rodgers has said that he is not feeling the pressure in spite of the on-going rumours.
Brendan Rodgers has sent a transfer warning to Manchester United over Harry Maguire’s future. The Leicester City boss insists that he does not feel any pressure of selling him despite the on-going rumours surrounding the club.
The former Liverpool manager iterated that Harry Maguire, who lead the Foxes to a 3-0 victory in a friendly against Cambridge United on Tuesday, has conducted himself well amidst Red Devils links. Unless Solskjaer weighs £80 million offer on the table, the one-time Premier League Champions will not be pressurized to sell the defender.
Following the pre-season friendly on Tuesday, Rodgers said: “The club is in a great state of health because there’s no pressure to sell any player,”
“And if a player does leave Leicester City, the valuation will have to be met. We have a top level player, looked at by top level clubs. I respect that because I understand why they would, but there’s been no offer near to our valuation that would even make us have a look.”
“How he has handled it has been fantastic. Harry has never wavered. ‘If there’s a valuation met that pleases the ownership, then there’s a decision to be made for the player.”
Featuring in the pre-season friendly, Harry Maguire opened the account against Cambridge United, followed by goals from Kelechi Iheanacho and Hamza Choudhary.
The 26-year-old signed for a measly £12 million from Hull City in 2017, and has gone on to become one of the dominant centre-backs in the Premier League. The defender has appeared 76 times for the Foxes before attracting interest from the Manchester clubs. But, the Citizens have backed out of the deal, meaning that the Red Devils are pursuing him keenly.
Bruno Fernandes, Sean Longstaff, and Nicolas Pepe are also part of Solskjaer’s wishlist, but the Norwegian is prioritising a defender currently.
