Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified 100 million rated shot-stopper as David De Gea’s replacement.
Manchester United’s manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke about the necessity to bring in new players in the forthcoming transfer window. After a flying start to his Red Devils career, the Norwegian has struggled to secure results over the last two months, losing six out of last eight in all competitions.
Most recently, the Red Devils tasted a 4-0 defeat in the hands of Everton last Sunday. That infuriated the fans and Solskjaer was quick to point out that the mentality of some of the players are so poor that it affects the whole team environment in the dressing room. Despite throwing tantrums at the players, he reiterated that about the desire of some players to play for the badge of Manchester United.
In recent weeks, along with Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial, David De Gea has been another name doing circles about the adherence to the club. The Spanish International has engrossed poor form since the culmination of the last season, thereby struggling to find his regularly standard in the World Cup.
Fans and board thought his struggles only lied with Spain because he operated as a modern-day goalkeeper by playing out from the back like Pep Guardiola’s sides. Jose Mourinho is the exact opposite by asking his shot-stoppers to clear the ball rather than playing out from the back because the Red Devils are not a side which could hold the ball longer like Manchester City.
Factualness is his goalkeeping has degraded as a whole this season, struggling to find his old shot-stopping ability. He committed poor errors against West Ham United and Barcelona within a span of four days which has been brought into the spotlight. Barring the appalling mistakes, he is yet to commit to Solskjaer’s project at Old Trafford.
According to the Metro, Manchester United are pondering about the availability of Atletico Madrid shot-stopper Jan Oblak. The Slovenian International, who has become one of the best goalkeepers under the management of Diego Simeone signed a new contract this March, but could be available for 100 million in the upcoming transfer window.
There is no doubt about Oblak’s quality, but his price might be worrying for the English outfit who are looking to invest in other positions. If Manchester United fail to qualify for the Champions League, life would be too complicated for Solskjaer.
Even though the Red Devils have been keeping tabs on Oblak, it remains to be seen if he would leave the club in the near future after gaining a sky-high reputation at Atletico. On the other hand, David De Gea has admired by Paris Saint Germain and Juventus who are willing to meet his salary demands.
