The first leg between Manchester United and Barcelona ended in a narrow win for the Catalan giants. Luke Shaw’s own goal made the sole difference in the game.
Manchester United produced a spirited performance but failed to overcome Barcelona in the first leg of the quarterfinal.
The side contained the Messi-Suarez duo with ease, as the midfield trio of Scott McTominay, Fred and Paul Pogba kept the Barca midfield at bay, but the own goal in the first half made the difference in the game.
Solskjaer’s men will now travel to Barcelona to overturn the one-goal deficit. The tie is still open, and Manchester United will aim to repeat their heroics against PSG in the second leg at Camp Nou.
Ashley Young’s performance was severely criticised by Manchester United’s fans throughout the game, and as the match drew to the close, Twitter erupted angrily on the United’s captain.
How Twitter reacted to Ashley Young’s performance:
Ashley Young and that black hole have got something in common. Both just keep on sucking.

Just thinking about it makes me irrationally angry. United are losing to a very stupid goal, having missed two glorious chances and messed up countless others via Ashley Young.

Ashley Young just does the first thing that comes to his head when the ball comes to him.

Not really a shock that the ref is the only person worse than Ashley Young on the pitch, they love Barca don’t they…

Ashley Young has some serious dirt on senior figures at the club. No other explanation.

I don’t care if he’s making tea, doing laundry. Ashley Young better not start games for this club from next season onwards.

David de Gea without hands is more useful than Ashley Young.

What next?
The second leg of the tie will be played next week at Camp Nou. However, Manchester United and Barcelona will return to league action this weekend before their Champions League face-off.
While United faces West Ham, Barcelona will take on Huesca.
