Manchester United lost their third game of the Premier League season to Crystal Palace. The hosts lost the game 2-1 to the Eagles, who thoroughly deserved for their superiority in the defensive department.
The Eagles lead through Andre Ayew because of Harry Maguire’s failure to step out of the offside trap in the first half. The Red Devils struggled to create chances in the whole half, before winning a penalty in the second half. Scott McTominay was brought down in the second half, but the striker Marcus Rashford failed to convert from the spot.
The game opened up in the last ten minutes – enabling the Red Devils to counter-attack. Anthony Martial went past three defenders to set up Daniel James, who produced a top-notch finish – taking it away from the Guaita. The game seemed to be over, but the five minutes stoppage time did not.
Former Liverpool striker Christian Benteke pressed and won back the back in a crucial area. The Belgian found Patrick Van Aanholt, who struck the ball just outside the six-yard box. David De Gea, who made calamitous mistakes last season, committed one and played helping hand in Crystal Palace’s first victory in 30 years.
