Manchester United are confident that goalkeeper David De Gea will sign a new contract with the club.

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is among the best in his trade. After Thibaut Courtois’ transfer to Real Madrid, the years of speculation of De Gea’s move to Real Madrid has finally come to an end. The Spaniard is now set to get a contract extension from his club and become one of United’s highest paid players.

David De Gea has a one year contract left at the Old Trafford with an option to extend it by another twelve months. This makes it an imminent surety about Dave staying with United until 2020. However, the Red Devils believe that De Gea will sign a new contract at the club.

Ed Woodward remains confident about the agreement going through. Real Madrid almost closed in on David De Gea in 2015’s summer but a technical issue on deadline day resulted in the transfer collapsing. Hence, De Gea committed his long term future to the Premier League giants. A £200,000 weekly contract with improved bonuses is expected to be placed in front of him, according to Mail.

Ed Woodward was told by Florentino Perez that the Whites had cooled their interest in the Manchester United shot stopper during a breakfast meeting in Miami in the final weeks of last month. Since then, United’s CEO is planning to offer one of the world’s best goalkeepers a contract extension.

David De Gea has shown how important he is to Man United in the last few years. He has been their player of the year in four of the last five twelve month periods. Despite Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure in 2013 from the helm, De Gea is United’s only consistent player and has delivered sensational displays.
