Manchester United team news vs Young Boys

Jose Mourinho provided Manchester United team news vs Young Boys, as United strengthen their bid for the round-of-16 berth.

Manchester United will be desperate to return to winning ways as they make a return to the Champions League later tonight. The side will meet Young Boys, where they’ll aim to secure three points to ease their way into round-of-16.

United is currently 2nd in their group, two points ahead of Valencia. If Manchester United secures three points and Valencia loses/draw their game against Juventus, Mourinho’s men will have guaranteed a place in the next round. In any other scenario, the game between United and Valencia becomes a potential knock-out.

Jose Mourinho’s side played a disappointing 0-0 draw at Old Trafford against Crystal Palace on Saturday. Manchester United have made their worst start to the season in 28 years, as the side is 7th in the table with 21 points from 13 games.

In the pre-match conference for the Champions League clash, Mourinho provided the team news.

Manchester United team news vs Young Boys:

Mourinho stated that two defenders would be out for the game against the Swiss side.

Victor Lindelof, who suffered a thigh injury in the match against Crystal Palace, will remain on the sidelines for a significant amount of time.

The defender played through the pain as Manchester United were out of substitutions and saw through the game, ensuring that the side doesn’t concede. His commitment earned him accolades from Manchester United fans, as well as Mourinho, who called the player ‘brave’ in the post-match interview.

Marcos Rojo, who is yet to make an appearance in the season, will remain unavailable for the game as well.

“[Victor will have a] scan tomorrow, but by the experience of the medical department and the feelings of the player, he has a muscular problem and a muscular problem takes time,” Mourinho said in the pre-match conference.

“I would say if we have Victor available for the Christmas period when we need, if possible, every player to be available for that difficult period until the Newcastle match on 2 January, it will be good.”

Mourinho stated that Rojo has “some little injury,” adding “Jones, Smalling and Bailly are the three that we have at this time.”

Mourinho also informed that Matteo Darmian has “a little [problem].” Darmian played the full 90 minutes against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
