Messi thinks Ronaldo wants the same wages as he does at Real Madrid

Things are looking pretty grim for Ronaldo and Real Madrid this season.

Tuesday night’s 3-1 defeat away to Tottenham must surely have been a topping point for Real Madrid as the defending European and Spanish champions have had a horror start to their season.

Barcelona have already established an eight point lead over Real in the league while last night’s defeat will see Real finish second in their group for the first time in years.

One of the prime reasons for this poor start is the misfiring Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar has only scored one goal in the league and has been a big cause of concern for Zidane’s side.

Although he got the consolation goal last night, Ronaldo himself was not pleased with the result but is confident that they will be able to turn things around.

Ronaldo also said that he was not going to sign a contract extension anytime soon.

“I am doing very well at Real Madrid. I have four years left on my contract and I don’t want to renew. I am fine,” he told beIN Sports  after the match.

“It is bad because we are losing and we are used to winning. It is a bad run,” he added.

“It is not how we would want things, but football changes. It is a bad run but we want to change and I am sure we will change.

“We have a lot of time still to get better and I am convinced we can do so.”

According to reports though, Ronaldo’s rival Lionel Messi thinks Ronaldo wants a new contract that will give him wages on par with Messi’s and Neymar’s. The Argentine feels that the lack of initiative shown by Madrid has played a part in Ronaldo’s poor form.
