MS Dhoni's run-out attempt against KL Rahul

MS Dhoni’s run-out attempt against KL Rahul: The CSK captain was involved in an unfortunate attempt to run-out KXIP opener.

During the 18th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab at Chennai, Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was involved in an unfortunate attempt to run-out Kings XI Punjab opening batsman Lokesh Rahul.

It all happened on the fourth delivery of the 13th over when Rahul dabbed a Ravindra Jadeja delivery on a leg-side for a single. Citing the batsman’s intention of sneaking a run, wicket-keeper Dhoni ran towards the ball and backhanded it to the stumps.

With the ball hitting the stumps directly, Dhoni had almost got Rahul run-out who was out of the crease. However, what didn’t work for the legendary cricketer were the bails which despite glowing didn’t fall from the top of the wickets.

It was due to the bails remaining on the top of the wickets that saved Rahul as the decision went in his favour. Had Rahul been dismissed at that stage, it would have been an idle time for CSK to take a wicket.

After Dhoni won the toss and chose to bat, Chennai super Kings ended up scoring 160-3 in their allotted quota of 20 overs on the back of an impressive finish from Dhoni.
