$620 Million Magic Johnson Declares 7’2 Victor Wembanyama To Be 2023’s Number 1 Overall Pick

Magic Johnson is one of the most cerebral players to have ever stepped foot on NBA hardwood. Him playing for merely 13 years in the league and racking up multiple MVPs and 5 championships should tell fans a lot about the kind of player he was when manning the floor.

Off the court, Magic was just as successful, racking up a net worth of $620 million as of 2022 through various investments and endorsements. He would look to replicate that same level of competence and success while working for the Los Angeles Lakers front office as well.

The two biggest moves he made as the President of Basketball Operations for them was D’Angelo Russell as he looked to draft Lonzo Ball and more importantly, recruited LeBron James to the ‘City of Angels’. Now, having retired from front office management, Magic looks to make yet another talent assessment.

Magic Johnson finally meets Victor Wembanyama

Victor Wembanyama has taken the NBA world by storm this past year. The 7’2 French basketball prodigy has displayed skills on the floor that no other 7-footer has in the history of the game. Everything from isos that end in fadeaways to his teammates having DHO actions with him.

His wingspan also allows him to swallow up shots anywhere from inside the paint, making him an elite two-way threat. Every single team in the league that is at the bottom of the standings is making a run at Wemby and it has become the general consensus that he is the number one overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.

As if fans needed more confirmation that what the eye test shows, Magic Johnson linked up with him and posted a picture with him to his Twitter. In the caption he would declare that Wembanyama was the number 1 overall pick this year. The former no. 1 pick seems to have given his blessing for this year’s pick.

Where is Victor Wembanyama playing now?

Victor Wembanyama is currently playing for the Metropolitans 92 in the French basketball league, LNB Pro A. He is not playing alongside the likes of Scoot Henderson in the G-League but has matched up against his draft competition during exhibition matches.

While the number 1 overall pick has more or less been decided to have been Wemby, everybody else that follows is where the true scouting begins for NBA teams. Regardless of how bad a team’s record is this season, the bottom three teams will all have an equal chance to at the number one overall pick.
