“After LeBron James, Jimmy Butler is maybe the most valuable player in the league”: Colin Cowherd showers Heat star with praise following their rapid ascent through Eastern Conference standings
Colin Cowherd adds to his long list of questionable takes, saying he believes Jimmy Butler should be #2 in the standings for MVP this year.
The importance of Jimmy Butler to the Miami Heat can’t be overstated. The player has had to battle injuries and COVID-19 protocols at different points this season. During this time, the franchise couldn’t put together a winning streak if their lives depended on it.
However, with Butler’s return to the fold, the team has been on a stellar run. In the last 10 games, the Heat are an impressive 9-1, and have made their way up to 4th in a competitive Eastern Conference.
Given his impact, some in the NBA community have cried out for Jimmy Butler to be a front-runner in the MVP conversation. And despite it not being the popular opinion, it seems Colin Cowherd agrees completely.
Colin Cowherd announces that he believes Jimmy Butler is just behind LeBron James in the MVP race
Colin Cowherd has made a living off making hot takes on his show ‘The Herd’. But, after endless unjustified slander on countless players, the analyst has finally come to an unpopular opinion that actually goes beyond just valid.
Speaking on the topic of contenders for MVP this season, Colin Cowherd said this.
“Jimmy Butler, outside of LeBron, is maybe the most valuable player in the league.”

When strictly looking at the box score, Butler’s numbers don’t quite seem at an MVP level. However, given the number of times he has put the team on his back and led them to victory in just the last month or two, it almost seems criminal to leave him out of the conversation.
Never thought the day would come where we actually agreed with Colin Cowherd on a hot take. Even if Jimmy isn’t necessarily second in most people’s eyes, he definitely deserves all of this love and attention.
