Anthony Davis was a crucial component of the Los Angeles Lakers roster that won the 2020 NBA championship. He was clearly the 1B to LeBron James’s 1A and was perhaps the best version of AD that the league has seen in the purple and gold.

This was Davis’s first year in LA and now in the midst of his 4th year as a Laker, he’s suffered an otherworldly amount of setbacks. Whether they were injuries that kept him out for a few weeks or ones that resulted in him missing half of a regular season, AD’s injury-prone history is one that is not pretty.
Now, with the Lakers trying to turn it all around for themselves as they boast a near a 13-16 record that places them 12th in the Western Conference, the 2012 no.1 overall pick has succumbed to yet another injury that will keep him out for an extended period of time.

Davis’s injury worse than it looks, according to Brian Windhorst
Anthony Davis, somehow, sprained his right foot midair while going into the paint and attacking Nikola Jokic against the Denver Nuggets. He would stay in the game for a while before the pain eventually got the better of him, causing him to exit and not return.
It was then reported following the game that Davis would be out for at least a month with a sprained right foot. Many have blamed the fact that he, as a near 7-footer, keeps wearing the LeBron 20 ‘Time Machine’ during games, a shoe that is a low top and doesn’t provide enough support for him.
Now, as the Lakers prepare to face off against the Suns without LeBron James and Austin Reaves as well, it has been revealed by Brian Windhorst that the injury to AD is worse than what it seems. Even Rob ‘Wob’ Perez said ‘a little birdie’ told him that the injury isn’t looking good.
“It’s not good. It’s not a sprained ankle. It’s not a sprained foot from what I understand. It’s something a little more concerning than that.”

What has Anthony Davis’s injury history with the Lakers looked like?
After his stellar run in the NBA Bubble over 2 years ago, Davis would immediately start to see his physical health decline. He missed exactly half of the regular season games in the 2020-21 season due to calf and Achilles problems. He would miss Game 5 of the series against the Suns and would play just 5 minutes in Game 6 before the pain got unbearable.
The 2022 campaign was even worse as the Lakers failed to make the play-in, let alone the Playoffs with a 33-49 record. Anthony Davis played just 40 games during the season as sprained his MCL and also had right foot problems.
Now, to start off the ‘23 campaign, he has suffered both lower back tightness and now, a right foot injury that has an incredibly unstable timeline.
