Dennis Schroder is currently representing Germany at the FIBA World Cup 2023. Schroder’s play has been solid, however, it wasn’t this that left a mark during his team’s latest clash with Latvia. Following an extremely close game against Latvia, Schroder found himself inadvertently fulfilling the childhood dream of Latvian sensation Arturs Zagars. The video released on X (Formerly Twitter) revealed the wholesome interaction.

In a closely fought encounter, Latvia succumbed to Germany, with a final score of 81-79. Arturs Zagars dazzled with a spectacular 24-point performance. Schroder, on the other hand, had a solid 9-point outing.

However, it wasn’t the final score that stole the spotlight on that memorable night.
After the game, a wholesome video emerged, capturing a spontaneous interaction between Schroder and Zagars. In the video, the German point guard can be heard saying:
“He [Arturs Zagars] is special!”
Then, during a subsequent interview, Arturs Zagars shared his perspective on what happened, stating:
“I had a question—who was my favorite NBA player? I said Dennis Schroder… It obviously means a lot that he came over here and said what he said.”

Despite the loss, Zagars can take motivation from his performance and Schroder’s words.
Germany will face Team USA next
Looking ahead, Germany is set to face the formidable Team USA on Friday, 8th September. The American squad, despite a recent loss to Lithuania, remains a dominant force in the tournament.
