“Defensive Player of the Year”: Giannis Antetokounmpo ‘Subtly’ Proclaims Himself Better Than Jaren Jackson Jr. While Promoting $118,000 Defender
Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo recently posted a video promoting a Land Rover Defender. The car has a starting range of $118,000, and the Greek Freak was buzzing due to the vehicle. He ended up using the opportunity to subtly throw shade at Jaren Jackson Jr., who was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year in 2023 over Giannis. On Instagram stories, Giannis posted a video showing off his car.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is a global presence and is therefore an ideal target for brands looking for promotions. The car was provided to him by a Spanos agency. Antetokounmpo ended up promoting it in front of his 15 million Instagram followers.
Giannis Antetokounmpo promoted Land Rover Defender on Instagram
Giannis Antetokounmpo was given the Land Rover by a Spanos agency. The luxury car agents thought that the Greek Freak could be some useful promotion for them.
Of course, Antetokounmpo ended up using the opportunity to throw shade on this year’s DPO selection. Giannis was ignored for the Memphis Grizzlies’ Jaren Jackson Jr., who also received his first-ever All-Star selection this season. Antetokounmpo used the chance to talk about the award, claiming that the DPOY should travel in a Land Rover Defender:
“Riding in style, Hey man, winning the defensive player of the year, you got to rise in a Defender.”

Antetokounmpo enjoyed a stellar regular season which was similar in stats to his DPOY winning years However, he was ignored for the 23-year-old Jackson. Giannis obviously still believes that he is the better defender when it comes to the two, and used the video to bring home that point.
Giannis has an incredible car collection
The Defender seems to be just another addition to Giannis’ luxurious care collection. Having a net worth of an estimated $110 million, Antetokounmpo has splurged huge money on cars.
He was previously also known to own a Land Rover Defender, apart from a Rolls Royce Cullinan, GMC Yukon, and a BMW I8. He is also the proud owner of a Porsche Cayenne, and multiple other luxury cars, according to CarHP.
Regardless, Antetokounmpo’s impressive collection got yet another addition in the form of the free Land Rover Defender. The fact that he used some wordplay to get back at the NBA and Jaren Jackson Jr. simply is added bonus for the Greek international.
