He ended up using the opportunity to subtly throw shade at Jaren Jackson Jr., who was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year in 2023 over Giannis. On Instagram stories, Giannis posted a video showing off his car.

Antetokounmpo used the chance to talk about the award, claiming that the DPOY should travel in a Land Rover Defender:

Antetokounmpo enjoyed a stellar regular season which was similar in stats to his DPOY winning years However, he was ignored for the 23-year-old Jackson. Giannis obviously still believes that he is the better defender when it comes to the two, and used the video to bring home that point.
