Stephen Curry‘s appearance on Gilbert Arenas‘ podcast, Gil’s Arena, had several notable moments. Probably none more so than when Curry, as revealed in the podcast, had Arenas ‘shook’ 3 years after his retirement in 2012. In conversation with the Warriors’ star point guard, Arenas shared a story from the 2014-15 NBA season.

Despite being taken aback by Curry’s prowess over the course of his career, Arenas once claimed that he was better than Chef Curry. He asserted that since his own career was derailed by injuries at the age of 25, Steph’s body of work in comparison to Arenas should also be looked at till Curry’s 25th birthday. He then suggested that when comparing both players at 25, Arenas would definitely stand out as the superior NBA player.
Stephen Curry’s insane practice routine had Gilbert Arenas shook
Gilbert Arenas is no stranger to scoring big and being clutch. He had a reputation for knocking down game-winning shots and breaking down defenses. However, when it comes to Stephen Curry, even Arenas is humbled.
During the show, Arenas took a trip down memory lane, back to the 2014-15 NBA season when Curry was on fire, winning his first MVP award and an NBA championship. He discussed a conversation he had with Andre Iguodala, Curry’s former teammate, during that incredible season. In the conversation, Arenas couldn’t resist asking Iguodala if he believed Curry was a better shooter than him. Iguodala’s response was an unequivocal “F*** yeah,” leaving no doubt about his belief in Curry’s shooting prowess.
What truly astonished Arenas was the sheer volume of shots Curry takes in practice to maintain his incredible shooting accuracy. To put it in perspective, Steph casually revealed that he’s taken nearly 700,000 shots throughout his career. This astonishing number, combined with Curry’s precision, left Arenas in disbelief.
“Your 2014-15 run right? I was talking to your ex-teammate prof, we were just talking about your shooting and I was like, Yo how many shots do you think he takes? Prof you think he a better shooter than me? Prof was like F*** yeah.I was like yeah I was thinking the same thing but I shot a lot. Man I shot a lot, how many shots? He has to be triple of me and that’s impossible. Do you sleep? So I was like yo call Ritter, I want to know how long he’s in the gym. It doesn’t make sense… I can’t do half the sh** he’s doing.”
When Curry stunned Iman Shumpert
Curry’s impact extends beyond his remarkable shooting. Iman Shumpert, who faced Curry in multiple NBA Finals as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, shared an interesting perspective.
“He got real vicious after that.”@imanshumpert breaks down how Steph turned into a monster after his 54-point explosion against the Knicks in 2013.

Curry is known as one of the nicest players in the league but on the court, he goes for the jugular and sometimes the theatrics involved can come out a little too disrespectful. Shumpert brought up what he termed to be the birth of a different side to the point guard
Shumpert recalled a game in 2013 when Curry dropped 54 points on his team. Iman played for the New York Knicks at the iconic Madison Square Garden at the time. Curry’s performance, filled with no-look shots and incredible fadeaways, prompted Shumpert to compare him to another legendary scoring guard, Arenas himself so it puts things into perspective. Shumpert suggested that this game marked the emergence of a more ruthless and dominant Stephen Curry.
