Despite $130,000 Bond, Miles Bridges Is Being Pursued By The Hornets Following Domestic Violence Charges

The Charlotte Hornets were quite the middling team last year. They finished two games over .500 and were one of the most electric League Pass squads available to watch. This was all thanks to the stellar play of Miles Bridges and LaMelo Ball.

Bridges had the best year of his career during the 2021-22 NBA season, averaging 20.2 points on 49.1% shooting from the field while grabbing 7 rebounds a night. He was their leading scorer and had formed a genuine off-court connection with the team’s other star, LaMelo.

Bridges, in the final of his contract last year, could’ve signed an extension with Charlotte in the summer of 2021 for a significantly lower price. This was before he proved he could be a solid primary scoring option on the wing. He bet on himself and his abilities and it worked. Unfortunately, he hit quite the deplorable speed bump in the middle.

Miles Bridges and the Hornets are in talks to sign the former

Miles Bridges was accused of domestic violence against his girlfriend with their 2 children present in June of 2022. He pleaded no contest to the charges placed against him after pleading not guilty initially. He posted bail by paying $130,000 and would then be sentenced to 3 years of probation.

Bridges would also have to complete a year’s worth of domestic violence counselling, another year’s worth of parenting classes, and do community service for 100 hours while on probation.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Hornets and Bridges’s agents at Klutch Sprots have been in contact with one another trying to work out ways to re-integrate him back into the Charlotte community while also discussing potential deals.

Miles was eligible to sign a max extension prior to this debacle. He probably won’t be getting that max extension now but given his play from last year, he would very well get a deal around the 4 year/ $120 million ballpark.

What was the NBA community’s reaction to this news about Miles Bridges?

As expected, NBA Twitter wasn’t pleased with a man who pleaded guilty for assaulting the mother of his children in front of his children was working towards signing a $100+ million offer sheet.
