Hot take artists are a dime a dozen in mainstream sports media today. It seems Kendrick Perkins has joined their ranks, judging from his comments through the past year or so.
Big Perk has been a regular feature on ESPN for a while. He recently signed a multi-year extension with the Disney subsidiary this summer. And since that time, he’s been on a roll with each of his takes sounding more flabbergasting than the last.
Perk was one of the major voices who denounced Gregg Popovich for Team USA’s losses leading into the tournament. His criticism of Pop peaked when a jet-lagged Team USA lost their first game of the tournament to France.
Draymond Green adopted a no-holds-barred approach to roasting the former Celtics center for his takes. Green featured on Kevin Durant’s Instagram Live stream after their gold medal win with a few choices for Big Perk:
“Kendrick Perkins, you talk a lot of s**t – A LOT OF S***. Act like an American.”
“Draymond Green, I’m going to keep talking my s**t”: Kendrick Perkins
Big Perk replied to these words on Twitter shortly after the video was streamed and went viral on social media. His response seems to make it clear that the hot takes are going to be streaming in for the foreseeable future:
“You’re right, Draymond Green! I’m going to keep talking my Sh$t and ain’t nobody go shut me up! Congrats on winning the Gold Medal tho Champ!!! Carry the hell on.”

Things are going to get a lot more interesting from the hot take section of social media in the upcoming days. Russell Westbrook’s arrival in Los Angeles alongside LeBron and AD has already prompted a few knee-jerk reactions from Perk.
Expect the Texas country boy to rile more NBA fans up with his takes about James and KD and their teams.
