After proving to be a star during his time with the North Carolina Tar Heels, Michael Jordan took the league by storm as soon as he stepped onto the hardwood. Picked #3 in the 1984 Draft, as a rookie, MJ was feared by a majority of the defenders in the league. Ahead of the Victor Wembanyama hype, Jordan’s scouting report from the 1984 draft has resurfaced on social media. Contrary to what the report suggested, Michael turned out to be a great bet for the Chicago Bulls. Putting up 28.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists, the youngster won the ROY. In an era dominated by big men, this brave 6-foot-6 guard would go on to redefine basketball forever.

The upcoming 2023 draft has been the one that’s been most talked about, mainly because of Wemby. The French phenom became an overnight star after his exhibition games against the G-League Ignite. Since then the youngster has been dominating the LNB Pro A, making him the sure shot #1 pick. Widely regarded as one of the most hyped prospects since LeBron James, Wemby is well-equipped with the tools required to change any franchise’s fortunes.
While the San Antonio Spurs will not dare to pick anyone not named Victor Wembanyama, it’ll be interesting to see who Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Hornets select a week from now.
A scouting report from 1984 questioned Michael Jordan as a talent
TheDraftReview recently left the internet in a frenzy by posting a rare scouting report of Air Jordan from the 1984 draft. Pretty similar to the infamous Stephen Curry report, the Black Cat’s ability to perform in the NBA was questioned.
We have all seen the infamous Stephen Curry scouting report. So I dug into the archives & comprised a list of Jordan’s comments before the 1984 NBA Draft. These are real taken from various observers.

Apart from mentioning that the swingman forced his shots, the report also read that he was a streaky shooter with average handles. Further, Jordan’s constant drive to the basket due to his “lack of shooting” questioned his ability to score consistently.
After the conclusion of his 15-year career, His Airness would be one of the most successful midrange shooters ever, knocking down almost 50% of his shots from the field. For somebody who was doubted for scoring consistently, winning 10 scoring titles is not too shabby, is it?
The report also called MJ an unreliable player to build a team around while criticizing his leadership “to transform a losing team’s culture”.
Apart from leading the Illinois side to the postseason every year, the young shooting guard would go on to lead the franchise to back-to-back Conference Finals, before winning six championships in eight years.
While not taking any shots at scouts, all draft reports aren’t always the most accurate. So what does that mean for Wemby’s future, and the impact he is making already?
Wemby has caused MJ to lose $280 million
The French youngster has been expected to have a Hall-Of-Fame career. Anything else will be considered a failure. While he’s hyped up to be a superstar as soon as he sets foot in the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs will also enjoy a rise in their worth with Wemby’s arrival.
The Hornets are valued at $1.7 billion at the moment. According to business analyst Darren Rovell, the North Carolina-based franchise could’ve seen a $400 million boost to its valuation. Unfortunately, the Hornets landed the #2 pick instead of #1, and have lost any hopes of drafting Victor.
With Michael Jordan owning 70% of the team, the Bulls legend has missed out on adding $280 million as he looks to sell his stakes.
