"He called Scottie Pippen better than Michael Jordan": Roy Jones Jr opens up about when a fan dissed the Bulls legend

Legendary boxer Roy Jones Jr reveals the one time he almost punched a fan for calling Scottie Pippen a better player than Michael Jordan.

There is virtually no player who is considered to be as great as the legend Michael Jordan. Many basketball enthusiasts and analysts, call the Chicago Bulls icon – the god of basketball. Being one of the most influential players in league history and looking at his illustrious resume, it is pretty understandable why he is considered to be the GOAT.

Mike absolutely revolutionised how the game is played and perceived. In his 15-year-long career, Jordan helped the Bulls franchise to become one of the greatest basketball dynasties ever. He won two three-peats in 8 years and also managed to win an impressive 72 games in a season. Clearly, His Airness and his Bulls dominated the 1990s.

One can’t talk about the Black Jesus and not talk about his “favourites teammate”, Scottie Pippen. Pip was the Robin to Michael’s batman. Scottie had a pivotal role in Jordan’s incredible career.

Even Michael himself admits it. However, if you ever told a hardcore Michael Jordan fan that Pip was better than the 6-foot-6 guard, things would surely get out of his hands.

“I almost lost my cool when a fan told me that Scottie Pippen was better than Michael Jordan”: Legendary boxer Roy Jones Jr

Because of his on-court successes and bold personality, Jordan became one of the most celebrated personalities in the entire world. As soon as he joined the league as a rookie, MJ instantly had a huge and loyal fan base. One such die-hard Michael Jordan fan was the legendary boxer Roy Jones Jr.

One of the greatest boxers of all time was such a big MJ fan that he was ready to punch a fan who called Scottie Pippen a better player than Jordan. Back in 2004, during an interview with Ahmad Rashad, Jones Jr revealed to Serena Williams, Derek Jeter, Warren Snapp and Jordan himself:

“What almost happened to me one day, and this the only time I may have almost lost my cool. When the Bulls was winning a lot, I always been a Michael Jordan fan. This guy comes up to me. This guy from my city, and he comes outside and says, ‘You know what, Scottie Pippen is the best player on that team’. I stopped. I said, ‘Don’t ever say that around me again.’ Matter fact imma go home. Because if you say that one more time to me, I’m going to jail.”
