Stephen Curry is undoubtedly one of the most successful players in today’s NBA. The Golden State Warriors superstar is a four-time NBA Champion, a two-time MVP, and has made a host of All-Star and All-NBA teams in his 14-year career.

However, there was a time when many did not think much of Curry. In fact, he was totally undermined prior to the 2009 NBA Draft. One report even stated he wasn’t a true point guard, had a poor shot selection, relied too much on his outside shooting, and was an erratic player. Yet, none of these things held him down in college.
Playing for the Davidson Wildcats, Curry was a phenom. He is especially remembered for leading the team in their historic 2008 NCAA run. A performance that led to him receiving a thundering ovation on his return to class.
Stephen Curry received a huge round of applause following Davidson’s amazing 2008 NCAA run
Despite his appearance at the time, Stephen Curry was an amazing college basketball player. The star guard for the Davidson Wildcats, Steph was often underestimated due to his babyish looks.
But, in 2008, a 20-year-old Steph showed the world why exactly he is now referred to as the Baby-Faced Assassin. After all, he led the Wildcats on a crazy run in the NCAA tournament. One where they shocked historically well-known basketball programs such as Gonzaga and Georgetown. All before falling to the Kansas State Jayhawks in the Midwest Regional Finals.
Nevertheless, his performances were amazing. And, as he once revealed on CONAN, 15 years ago, he received a deafening round of applause upon his return to class.
“I walked in and I was a little late and the teacher kind of stopped teaching. And just everybody gave us a round of applause. It was me and one of my teammates. They just gave us an applause and I sat down kind of awkwardly. I didn’t know what to do!”
It must have been a memorable moment for young Steph. But, as history shows, he has created several more unforgettable moments since then.
Steph is looking to create history yet again and win his fifth NBA Championship
History seems to be something that beckons toward Stephen Curry. And, with the 2023 Playoffs underway, the 2022 Finals MVP will be hoping to create history once more and win his fifth NBA Championship. Another ring would put him in a premium class that includes the likes of Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, and Magic Johnson.
In order to do that, he will have to help the Warriors get through the Sacramento Kings. But, given how the first two games have gone, he will have to be on top form when they get home to the Chase Center.

Only time will tell if Wardell Stephen Curry will prevail. One thing is for certain, win or lose, the applause he will receive will be as rapturous as ever.
