Is Damian Lillard Playing Tonight Vs Spurs? Availability Report On 6x Blazers All-Star Following Abysmal Lakers Loss
Damian Lillard had been on a tear offensively early to mid January of this 2022-23 NBA campaign. However, these past two games seemed to cause Dame to cool off, scoring 25 points against the Philadelphia 76ers in a loss and 24 points last night against the Los Angeles Lakers on 5-17 shooting from the field.
Last night’s loss to the Lakers was undoubtedly the worst loss of the season. After a 45 point second quarter, the Blazers would score merely 41 points in the entire second half and give up a 25+ point lead. Dame had quite the off night but it was the defense in the paint that stifled Portland and eventually led to Thomas Bryant’s ‘Wilt-esque’ night.
Lillard took to the post game press conference to state that he wants to win and understands that they aren’t winning at the moment. He would then get agitated by reporters asking him about potential roster moves ahead of the trade deadline, stating he wasn’t the man to answer this.
Will Damian Lillard play against the Spurs?
Damian Lillard tweaked his ankle a few times in a game against the Orlando Magic earlier this month, leading to a certain level of discomfort. He would however, suit up for the following games and actually kickstart a mini scoring run of his across a multitude of games.
He’s back-to-back games once since tweaking his ankle and that was in two wins against the Dallas Mavericks where he dropped 40 points and 36 points. Tonight is yet another B2B bout but it is against the tanking San Antonio Spurs.
Due to the nature of the loss last night and the fact that Dame played 40 minutes, Lillard might be sat by Chauncey Billups and his coaching staff tonight. It should be noted that he isn’t currently on an injury report and the only Blazer that is, is Justice Winslow.
