Is Jayson Tatum Playing Tonight vs 76ers? Celtics Release Injury Update on 4x All-Star Ahead of Game 2 Against Joel Embiid & Co

Jayson Tatum has been of tantamount importance to the Boston Celtics for obvious reasons during this current postseason run. He has been awarded the role of the player with the most load on the team. And on it, he has paid some serious dividends. However, all that could be invalidated completely at the moment. During Game 1 between the Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers, Jayson Tatum had to leave the game with what seemed like an injury. Yes, the man since went back to the game. But, what was the extent of his ailment? Is he badly hurt?

Is Jayson Tatum’s injury a serious one?

Jayson Tatum was down for a little while and even spent some time on the bench for an apparent injury caused by a stray hand from PJ Tucker. You can see it go down in the clip in NBA Central’s tweet below.

As you may expect, this one was a sore one, but also, not one that will have any lasting effects or damage on the Boston Celtics star. And sure enough, as per Underdog, the man was deemed more than healthy enough to continue playing without any worries whatsoever.

So, unlike Joel Embiid, whose knee sprain has left his availability for this entire postseason in doubt, Jayson Tatum should continue to feature for the Boston Celtics without any real hitch whatsoever. Celtics fans will be hoping that will be enough to take them to the NBA Finals once again.

Could the groin injury be behind Tatum’s Game 2 performance?

Taking the floor against the Sixers tonight, Tatum played just 19 minutes. There could be several reasons behind the same. The Celtics blew out the Sixers by 34 points. On top of that, it might have something to do with the injury he suffered in Game 1.

Tatum attempted seven shots, making just one of them. He ended his night with 7 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 turnovers. He also stayed true to himself and shoved yet another referee tonight.

While the Cs didn’t really need JT to have a big game tonight, they’d hope that he’s ready for Game 3 as the series now heads back to the City of Brotherly Love.
