Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic (77) reacts after scoring a basket against the San Antonio Spurs during the first half at Crypto.com Arena.

After a promising start to the season, the LA Lakers have struggled to string together a few wins. Since their 7-match win streak was broken by the Phoenix Suns earlier this month, the Lakers have visibly struggled, managing 4 wins and just as many losses in the last 8 games.

As they face the Suns again tonight, the gold and purple nation would have really liked to have their ace star, Luka Doncic, take the court. Unfortunately, the Slovenian star left the court in the first half during Sunday’s 103-88 loss to the LA Clippers after taking a knee to his left leg.

Head coach JJ Redick late revealed to the press that Doncic had suffered from a calf contusion. To be fair, the way Doncic visibly hobbled after the impact, Lakers fans should thank their stars it wasn’t anything worse. Now, the question remains – Is Doncic taking the court against the Suns later tonight?

As far as tonight’s game against the Suns is concerned, it’s no bueno! The Lakers have ruled out Luka Doncic for the game against the Phoenix Suns.

This would be the 4th game he misses this year. He had notably suffered a bruise in October that had sidelined him for 3 games. Thankfully, his absence wasn’t as noted since the Lakers found a star in Austin Reaves to cover the missing ground and then some.

Regardless, it seems these two injuries are unrelated, so fate is working again for the Lakers’ fans. However, head coach Reddick has asserted that they are closely monitoring Doncic’s situation and at the moment, any updates will be made on a day-to-day basis.

Contusions of the kind that Doncic is suffering from normally resolve rather quickly and don’t need extensive physiotherapy. Doncic is expected to take part in practices, and the Lakers’ medical team will be keeping him under observation.

If there are no setbacks, a timeline of a week has seemingly been set. The Lakers management will certainly hope Doncic will make it back by Christmas since that’s when they will be in an intense contest with Kevin Durant’s Houston Rockets.
