"JaVale McGee couldn't believe he got asked such a stupid question": NBA fans mock reporter who asked the Team USA big man whether his mom was alive or not

JaVale McGee was stunned when a reporter asked him a rather inappropriate question – whether or not his mother was alive.

In today’s day and age, it is absolutely necessary for each and every athlete to give pre-game or postgame interviews. While dealing with this media pressure is easy for some athletes, others have quite a difficult encounter with the reporters.

Recently, it was Team USA big man JaVale McGee who had a rather awkward clash with a reporter during an interview. The 7-foot centre was taken aback when he was asked a “weird” question.

Joe Varden, a senior writer for “The Athletic”, asked the 3-time NBA champ whether or not his mother was still alive. This is not only an inappropriate question to ask a professional basketball player, but anyone in general.

JaVale, who couldn’t believe what he was just asked, reacted:

“Is my mom alive!? Yeah, she’s alive. That’s a weird question to ask somebody.”

NBA Fans troll Joe Vardon for asking a stupid question to JaVale McGee

This isn’t the first time Vardon has had an encounter with a Team USA member. This past month, Joe got into a heated exchange with head coach Gregg Popovich after Kevin Durant and co. had lost their second-consecutive exhibition match against Australia. However, in this particular instance, McGee handled the situation pretty well.

NBA Twitter couldn’t stop trolling Joe Vardon after the clip of his question to McGee went viral.

JaVale McGee, being the good sport he is, decided to joke around about the same incident while giving his fans a little laugh. The 3-time NBA Champ took to his Twitter and posted a picture of his mother at the gym captioning it – “Moms is great! Getting it in!”

JaVale and the USA team will begin their 2021 Olympic Games campaign by playing their first match against Rudy Gobert and the France team. The 2-time Shaqtin-A-Fool MVP will hope to help his country winning gold, continuing his mother’s incredible legacy and making history by hoping to become the first mother-son duo to win Olympic Gold in basketball.
