‘Lakers have a chance to threepeat': Stephen A. Smith believes LeBron James can win 6 rings

Stephen A. Smith believes LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers will win the 2021 and 2022 NBA titles.

The Los Angeles Lakers had already won the 2020 offseason after news broke out that thye had signed 2019 NBA champion, Marc Gasol.

To add the cherry on top of the cake, in the past 48 hours, the Lakers have signed LeBron James to an $85 million contract extension that runs till the 2022-23 season. Along with James, Anthony Davis has locked into the Lakeshow with a 5 year/$190 million deal.

Combining the retention of their 2 superstars along with their new acquisitions, the Lakers are heavy favorites to repeat as champs. Zach Lowe said, “I would put the Lakers in a tier of their own, above everyone else.”

Stephen A. Smith also very high on the Lakers for the next few years.

With talks surrounding the Lakers being that of a repeat, Stephen A. took it a step further. When asked on who he would pick to win it all for the next 3; the Lakers of the field, Stephen A. chose the Lakers.

Stephen A. said, “I think the Lakers have a chance to 3-peat. I think right now, as this season is presently constructed, it’s the Lakers and everyone else is a distant second.”

He continued on by saying, “I think the only shot that exists in the field for anybody to knock off the Lakers is if James Harden ends up joining KD and Kyrie in Brooklyn.”

Could the Lakers lock down the NBA and 3-peat?

The Lakers most certainly have the chops for it. The way it’s going, LeBron James isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. The rest of the roster is built almost perfectly around AD and Bron, complementing their playstyle.

There are a few teams such as the Clippers and the Nets who have a shot. However, if there are no drastic, conference altering trades, the Lakers should be the favourites for the foreseeable future.
