‘LeBron James violated protocol and could play, but Chris Paul can’t?’: NBA fans question league’s COVID policy after CP3 is sidelined for an indefinite period

Chris Paul violating the NBA Health & Safety Protocols has placed the NBA world on fire as fans are outraged he’ll be missing time when LeBron James didn’t.

The Suns superstar is out for what is being listed as “an indefinite period of time.” How long that means is anyone’s guess right now. His absence could be shorter if he had been vaccinated.

Back in the last few days of the NBA season, LeBron had reportedly encountered a similar scenario. He attended an outdoor event when he wasn’t supposed to, and the NBA was looking to punish him. However, they ultimately didn’t. This is where the outrage comes for fans.

After LeBron James wasn’t punished, the NBA sent out the following statement regarding his situation:

“To clarify any remaining misconception, LeBron James briefly attended an outdoor event last week where participants were required to be vaccinated or return a negative test result. Under these circumstances and in consultation with medical experts, it was determined that his attendance did not create risks related to the spread of COVID-19 and therefore no quarantine was necessary.”

So, it is possible that CP3 was at an event where these guidelines weren’t adhered to. Earlier in the year, Zach Lavine had missed around 10-14 days. All in all, the Bulls guard missed 14 games. However, CP3 has a little more time.

The Jazz and Clippers are deadlocked in their series, and the NBA has yet to schedule a date for the Conference Finals. Here’s hoping he can make it back in time. Meanwhile, here are some of the other fan reactions to CP3’s absence:
