“Michael Jordan When He Was Sick”: Tom Brady Once Recalled MJ’s Flu Game While Praising Patrick Mahomes
Tom Brady is the greatest player in the history of the NFL. But, now with him retiring from football, it’s time for the league to look for a new face. There are plenty of options, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and Jalen Hurts to name a few. But, perhaps the outright No.1 is Patrick Mahomes. A superstar that Brady has mentioned in the same vein as Michael Jordan.
Football is a tough sport. There are a lot of broken bones, a lot of concussions, and a lot of injuries that one can be susceptible to. That is why, it takes a lot to succeed in the sport. And, Mahomes is one of the toughest players out there.
In fact, it is this toughness that helped Brady recall Jordan’s infamous “Flu Game”. A game that MJ had to will himself through, and one that says a lot about the Kansas City Chiefs QB.
Tom Brady praises Patrick Mahomes while reminiscing about Michael Jordan and the Flu Game
Michael Jordan made a name for himself as one of the most competitive players in the NBA. The six-time NBA Champion was so obsessed with victory, he would do anything to achieve it. Including and not limited to playing through sickness.
All you have to do is look at the “Flu Game”. In 1997, Jordan fell terribly ill before Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz. In spite of this, he willed himself into action and led his team to a huge victory. It was a great example of what makes sports amazing.
Sports allow you to push the limits of your physical and mental ability. And, the “Flu Game” is what NFL legend, Tom Brady recalled on Sirius XM NFL Radio when voicing his respect for Patrick Mahomes. An NFL QB, much like him and Jordan, who he believes is willing to push the limits in order to achieve greatness.
“He’s a tough guy. And, I told him this the other night, “I’m just really happy for you!”. And, you know that’s what champions are made of at the end of the day. You got to go out there and you go to do what he did. Or else, you make it this far and let some other team win? No! You push to the limit and you go, “This is what I’m here for!”. This is what’s inspiring about sports. It’s not, “How do I feel great all the time?”. Everyone talks about Michael Jordan when he was sick, and you watch other people come out and be injured. That’s what we respect about sports!”

It is an honor for Mahomes, who recently won his second Super Bowl to be praised by an NFL legend. And, to be mentioned in the same vein as one of the greatest athletes of all time.
Patrick Mahomes cannot decide between MJ and LeBron James
Being mentioned in the same breath as Michael Jordan must be satisfying for Patrick Mahomes. However, when it comes to choosing the NBA GOAT, the two-time Super Bowl Champion isn’t completely sold on His Airness. In fact, to hear him say it, he would pick both Jordan and LeBron James.
To be precise, if he had to pick a player to play one game, he would pick MJ. And, if it was for the entire season, the King is his choice.

It certainly is an interesting take. But, knowing Jordan’s competitive spirit he probably would disagree with Patrick’s diplomatic answer.
