"Shaunie Got to Keep the House in Orlando": Shaquille O'Neal Recalled $33,400,000 Loss Owing Divorce Settlement During 2019 NBA Awards

In 2019, Shaquille O’Neal hosted the NBA Awards. He was a terrific host and hilarious to boot. And, in his opening monologue, the four-time NBA Champion had a wide range of jokes. One of which revolved around his highly publicized divorce from Shaunie O’Neal. Shaq joked that in the divorce, that took place in 2011, he lost three of his houses to Shaunie. Additionally, they were houses that, according to Realtor.com are worth close to $33,400,000.

Not much is known about Shaq’s divorce from Shaunie. Especially when it comes to the money involved in the divorce settlement. But, given how freely he joked about losing three very expensive houses, it’s safe to say he wasn’t lying about that part of the separation.

Shaquille O’Neal lost close to $33,400,000 to Shaunie O’Neal after giving her three houses in the divorce

Shaquille O’Neal divorced Shaunie O’Neal back in 2011. While it was officially stated that irreconcilable differences were the reason for their separation, Shaq has admitted that his infidelity was one of the causes. As a result, Big Diesel lost quite a bit of money in the process. But, even though the full sum is not known, he has at least lost $33,400,000.

Hosting the NBA awards in 2019, Shaq cracked a joke stating he lost three houses in the divorce to Shaunie. One in Los Angeles, one in Orlando, and one in Miami. Three massive houses that left a big hole in the Hall of Famer’s pocket.

According to reports, the house in LA, located in Beverley Hills for around $6,400,000 in 2004. As for the houses in Florida, the one on Star Island, an eight-bedroom, eight-bathroom palatial mansion was sold for $16,000,000 in 2009. And finally, his Windemere estate fondly referred to as the “Shaq-apulco” was sold in 2011 for $11,000,000.

“I know I look good. I’ve slimmed down… lost a lot of weight. Almost 145 pounds. You wanna know how I did it, Charles Barkley? I got divorced. Shareef don’t tell your mom I said that. But, I give my ex-wife credit. She’s a great housekeeper… she got to keep the house in Orlando, the house in Miami, and the house in LA!”

It was a hilarious joke, one that even Shaunie would have laughed at, considering it had been eight years since they parted ways. But, despite the significant financial dent, Shaq is still incredibly wealthy. And, considering his business acumen, he probably made that $33,400,000 back in an instant.

Shaq pays Shaunie O’Neal close to $50,000 in monthly alimony

Apart from the $33,400,000 he lost to Shaunie, Shaquille O’Neal also pays his ex-wife around $50,000 in alimony. Close to $10,000 in spousal support, and a further $10,000 for each one of the four children they had together, Shareef, Amirah, Shaqir, and Me’Arah. Fortunately, Shaunie didn’t need much more thanks to her involvement in the reality TV show basketball wives.
