Skip Bayless Scoffs at Victor Wembanyama Propaganda Underplaying Lebron James' Dominance in the League: "Wemby Will be the Greatest Player"

It will be fair to say Victor Wembanyama is the most hyped NBA prospect since a certain LeBron James. With the San Antonio Spurs winning the draft lottery, Wembanyama is expected to make an immediate impact in the NBA. Still, considering the kind of hype that Victor has created even before entering the NBA, comparing him to LeBron seems a tab unfair.

That is what The Undisputed’s Skip Bayless seems to believe. Apart from questioning the hype associated with Wembanyama on the show, Bayless also posted a tweet claiming that the hype means Wembanyama will be the greatest-ever NBA player.

Skip Bayless questions whether Victor Wembanyama will be the greatest-ever NBA player

The kind of skillset that Victor Wembenyama possesses is utterly unique. Standing at 7 ft 4 inches, he can dominate established NBA players already.

Still, Skip Bayless believes that it is a bit too early for people to compare Wembanyama with LeBron James. Bayless claimed on a recent Undisputed episode that to claim Wembanyama will have a better career than LeBron already was “flat out wrong.”

He went on to say:

“LeBron has played so long at such a high level and is still going. To even think that Wemby will have that career is ludicrous, and it’s just flat-out wrong.”

His argument was that if people believe Wembanyama is a greater prospect than LeBron, they are also claiming he will be the best player in the league’s history.

“How could you even think he was gonna be beyond LeBron? … Does that mean we’re looking at the GOAT? … If in fact LeBron is the GOAT, let’s accept that as a fact, then, if he’s got more potential, then he’s gonna be the greatest player that’s ever played! I don’t wish that on anybody,” argued Skip.

While Wembanyama might as well go and make history in the NBA, it is only after he proves himself in the league that such comparisons should be made.

Victor Wembanyama has critics already

Wembanyama has earned quite a reputation, with LeBron James even calling the French prospect “an alien.” His height coupled with his skillset gives him an unfair advantage over his peers and the 19-year-old seems to know exactly how to use it.

Still, his physicality still has plenty of room for improvement. Hitting the weight room is essential for the projected #1 pick. And NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal agrees. He went as far as to question whether Wembanyama would have been a success during his era. While Shaq believes that the Frenchman will be a success under the tutelage of Gregg Popovich, Wembanyama would not have been as effective during his time:

“If this was our era, banging, he would be chicken noodle soup which I kind of like.”
