Shaquille O’Neal has admitted that Stephen Curry is one of his favorite players to watch. Despite being a dominant big man effective in the paint, Shaq has always shown his love for the small ball basketball revolutionized by the Golden State Warriors. However, the Diesel took his love for Steph Curry to another level when he declared him to be a better point guard all time than Magic Johnson.

Recently, a video clip from one of Shaq’s Big Podcast episodes has resurfaced on social media, where he can be seen snubbing Magic Johnson in the GOAT PG debate. In the clip, Shaq shows no reluctance in dubbing the Warriors superstar the greatest point guard of all time.
This statement prompted his co-host Nischelle Turner to question him on the subject. When specifically asked about Magic, Shaq reiterated that he puts the four-time NBA Champion over his fellow Lakers legend in the rankings.
Shaq then further elaborated, addressing the claim that Curry is not a traditional PG. According to the big man, the game has evolved to accommodate the modern needs. And even though Curry is not a traditional point guard, he is listed on paper as one. So he should be counted as a point guard.
Here’s a look at the conversation.
O’Neal: “You have to say he’s the best point guard ever.”
Turner: “You putting him over Magic?”
O’Neal: “Yes. Yes of course I am! Yeah! You heard it here first!”
Turner: “But he’s not a traditional point guard. That’s a good point!”
O’Neal: “The game has evolved. His position says point guard!”

In many people’s eyes, Magic Johnson is the greatest point guard to have ever lived. But Stephen Curry’s meteoric rise, which has changed basketball forever, has forced people to rethink their verdict on the conversation.
The Big Aristotle seems adamant about his take on Steph’s greatness. But we have to keep in mind that he is biased to some extent. Shaq has been trying his luck in three-pointers after retirement and now even calls himself ‘The Black Steph Curry’.
