"We're All Smoking Cigars like Michael Jordan!": Giannis Antetokounmpo's Idea for Celebrating the Bucks' Ring Was Dodgy

Giannis Antetokounmpo has barely entered his prime. And quite frankly, he is already one of the greatest players to ever pick up a basketball. Heck, Shaquille O’Neal once said it himself. The Greek Freak is just a more modern version of himself.

Now, Giannis may be a champion, but of course, he isn’t happy with just one. Of course, he is going to be pushing both himself and his teammates to get to the promised land yet again. And perhaps it’s because of that the Bucks have a chance, despite being in the same conference as the Nets, Heat, and Celtics.

But there was a time all he could do was dream about an NBA championship, despite being one of the best in the league. And during that period he once took an interview to reveal what he planned to do along with his teammates if that dream of his ever came true.

Giannis Antetokounmpo planned to take his teammates with him to the party island of Greece

To be clear here, this isn’t an interview from his third year in the NBA or something of a similar timeframe. No, this interview happened only back in 2020, amidst NBA’s stoppage amid the Covid-19 outbreak in 2020.

And as per Outlook India, here is all he had to say on the matter of winning a championship, and Greece.

“Before all this happened with COVID-19, I was talking about taking the team on a trip to Greece in Mykonos,” Antetokounmpo said via the Athletes Doing Good Radiothon on ESPN.

“Mykonos is one of the best islands in Greece, it’s a party island. You cannot go there with your significant other, you got to be by yourself. It’s got to be a boys’ trip.

“Obviously, we have Santorini, Santorini’s really romantic. It has the best sunset and sunrise in the world. You can take your significant other there.

“I had the opportunity to go last year – I went with [Eric] Bledsoe and Brook [Lopez] to Mykonos – and I was kind of sad I wasn’t able to bring the whole team to experience what we went through.

“So definitely, I think, after we win the championship and we’re holding the trophy and we’re all smoking a cigar like M.J., we can all do that in Mykonos.”

You can’t even take your significant other? What are you doing there, Giannis Antetokounmpo?!

Jokes aside, this was quite the plan, to say the least. But, did he and his teammates actually end up going through with it?

Did Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks party in Mykonos?

After copious amounts of research, we have concluded that the Bucks are a team that is very good at covering its tracks.

Simply put, nothing is known about their offseason plans after winning a championship.

But hey, at least the man was able to smoke a cigar like Michael Jordan.

And of course, knowing how badly he wanted that ring, it’s hard to think he and his teammates really missed out on Mykonos either.
