"White Kid Got Paid": Slamming Doubters For Questioning $53,827,872 Contract, Austin Reaves Boldly States His Worth

Austin Reaves is one of the best up-and-coming players in the league. The Lakers guard was recently rewarded for his performances with a $53,827,872 contract. The contract has brought off a lot of hate Reaves way though. A lot of people believe that Reaves is being overpaid for his services to the Lakers. But recently the young guard has clapped back at his haters.

Reaves recently shared a story on his Instagram that hit directly at his haters. The post included praise from Coach Phil Handy. Coach Handy not only told everyone that he deserves the contract, but he also is proving all his doubters wrong by performing at a high level.

Austin Reaves ‘claps back’

Reaves has clapped back at his haters sometimes, and it’s a sight to behold. Reaves’ haters have started a new narrative, that he is overpaid. The 25-year-old’s new $53, 827,872 contract isn’t necessarily something that sits well with this bunch, and Reaves has had enough. Reaves took to his IG, to share a post that went,

People are going to look at Austin and say, ‘Oh man. This white kid got paid. “I think he’s just out to prove that, ” Look, whatever pack check I got, I earned this contract’. Ans he did. This is not a fluke. It’s all about just continuing to show people that he wasn’t a one-trick pony. That he’s here to stay. Every time he steps on the floor he just wants to prove to people in some kind of way: I am either better than you or as good as you are. ”

These words are from no one else but legendary Coach Phil Handy. Coach Handy is known to be one of the best, if not the best offensive coaches in the NBA. In the post, Handy has made it clear that this contract is no fluke and Reaves deserves every part of it.

Reaves, throughout his career, has shown up. In the postseason, he averaged 16.9 points, 44.3% from the three, and also shot almost 90% at the line. These stats show that without Reaves, the Lakers wouldn’t be the same team, and that deserves some compensation.

Reaves shows humility for success

Austin Reaves is humble and it shows. Reaves was recently asked if he was upset, that he wasn’t given the Max. Austin humbly replied, “It’s hard to be mad at making $54M… That’s way more money than I ever thought I would make, especially playing basically a kid’s sport for a living,”

Austin Reaves is locked and loaded for the new season. The wing player, when asked about his hopes for the team this season, said,

We got everything we need to be good. We just have to buy into the game plans, and the coaching, and build that chemistry as a team. Like I said we have the talent to do whatever we need to do. Yeah! A lot of talent, a lot of skill, and a lot of good basketball here!”.

Austin may be right, the newly constructed Lakers roster is better than anything we have seen recently from them. With the Lakers having every position well covered and stocked, it would be interesting to see if LeBron can overcome the West this year.
