“Who the Hell Names Their Kid ‘Kawhi’?”: Charles Barkley Once Needed $100 to Not Say ‘Kwame’ Leonard
Ever since his retirement, Charles Barkley has been a mainstay in the television business. The Hall of Famer has thrived as an NBA analyst.
Since his retirement, Sir Charles is working with TNT where he works as an analyst on Inside the NBA alongside some of basketball’s biggest names.
Speaking of which, despite his nearly 22-year television career, names are something the Chuckster continues to struggle with. Just ask Kawhi Leonard.
Charles Barkley continuously butchers the names of top stars like Kawhi Leonard
Sir Charles Barkley is one of the most entertaining men in NBA history. Both as a player and as an analyst, he knows how to keep fans glued to the screen.
More often than not this is by design, but there are times when he does some hilarious things unconsciously. Like, when he botches the names of NBA superstars. Over the years, Barkley has made some big blunders including calling Kawhi Leonard, Kwame.
“Who the hell names their kid Kawhi anyway?!?!…name your kid Ben or Jerry or something else!”
Even with $100 on the line, The Round Mound of Rebound couldn’t do it. Talk about embarrassing.
But, Kawhi is just one of the many names he has managed to butcher. From the likes of Ja Morant, Kyle Kuzma, and OG Anunoby to the more complicated names like Jonas Valanciunas and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Chuck better learn to pronounce those names after getting a huge $100 million contract
Charles better is working on his pronunciation. Given his new contract, he cannot afford to make any more mistakes. Seeing as he was handed a 10-year $100 million deal from TNT to stay with Inside the NBA.

With all that money, Barkley would do well to remember players’ names. Hopefully, he doesn’t make too many costly errors.
