Neymar injury update

Neymar injury update: Paris Saint-Germain have issued a press release announcing the Brazilian forward’s injury.

French side PSG received a major blow earlier this month when Neymar faced a metatarsal injury in the game against Strasbourg.

The Brazilian forward has been one of the key players for Paris Saint Germain and there had been various speculations over his chances to play against Manchester United.

PSG have had a difficult time with injuries this month as Marco Verratti has also been ruled out for a significant period after facing an injury against Guingamp.

The French outfit has now released an official statement over Neymar’s injury concerns and the news isn’t cheerful for the PSG fans.

Neymar injury update:

PSG have confirmed that the forward will be out of action for ten weeks as he takes ‘conservative treatment’ for metatarsal injury.

Neymar is, hence, ruled out for both legs of the game against Manchester United. PSG will travel to Old Trafford on February 12 for the first leg of the tie.

In a detailed statement, PSG wrote, “On Tuesday Paris Saint Germain gathered around a group of world-renowned medical experts at the Ooredoo Training Centre to carry out a thorough review of Neymar Jr.’s right foot, sustained against RC Strasbourg in the Coupe de France match on 23 January.

“After detailed analysis by the specialists, a consensus was reached of a conservative treatment of Neymar Jr.’s injury to the fifth right metatarsal. Informed of this recommendation, Paris Saint-Germain’s Brazilian international striker agreed with this protocol. As a result, Neymar Jr. is expected to return to the field within ten weeks.

“Paris Saint-Germain sends its strongest support and encouragement to Neymar Jr. to overcome this injury, with the courage and determination that the player has always shown.”

Last year, Neymar sustained an injury before the second-leg of the round of 16 tie against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

He was ruled out for the rest of the season but recovered just in time for the World Cup in Russia in the summer.
