Lionel Messi: Barcelona mega star may receive lifetime contract this season. The club are also preparing for life without their talisman.
Lionel Messi’s current contract is set to expire in 2021. The club however, is looking to offer him a new four-year contract that will see him at Camp Nou until he is 36. It is clear that the Blaugrana hold the Argentine vert dear and would love to see him retire at the club where he started his career.

It is almost impossible Messi without Barcelona or vice versa. While Barcelona are trying to make sure that Messi never parts with them, there will be a time one day when calls time on his career. Barcelona President Josep Bartomeu says that the club are aware of the situation and have already put the plans for the Post Messi era in motion.
“We think it is our obligation to work on the post-Messi era,” Bartomeu told Reuters.
“We’re thinking about a post-Messi era because we are bringing in new players… We have to think about this changing era when Messi will give up playing football. But, as president, I hope that he is going to be (have) very large years playing with us still.”
Lifetime contract for Lionel Messi
AS have reported that Barcelona may offer Lionel Messi a lifetime contract; One quite similar to the one signed by another club legend Andres Iniesta. Such a contract would enable him to leave Barça when he wanted to retire or try a new experience in another country, and then later return to the club to fill an ambassador or coaching role.
It is unlikely that Lionel Messi would ever leave the Blaugrana for any other club in the world. The Argentine could very possibly end his career at Catalonia. It will definitely warm the hearts of Barcelona fans who will be extremely pleased to know that Messi will still be connected to the club in one way or the other.
