PSG finally managed to extract their bit of revenge from Barcelona. It came four years after their humbling at the hands of the same club in the Champions League but the Ligue 1 outfit will be pleased at having finally managed to have put to bed that nightmare.
Leading 4-1 in the two side’s round of 16 matchup in the Champions League, PSG assured that they safeguarded that lead to perfection. Taking on Barcelona on Tuesday, PSG ensured things were straightforward for them as they drew 1-1 on the night.
Taking the lead through a Kylian Mbappe penalty on the night, PSG were rankled as Lionel Messi hit back for Barcelona. However, the club’s leading scorer saw his subsequent penalty effort be spurned by Keylor Navas, a moment which emerged as the catalyst of PSG’s progression from the tie.
Buoyed by the save, PSG came out strong in the second half to ensure Barcelona failed to get any leeway back into the tie. The club ended up erupting in jubilant and joyous celebrations ensuing the win as the club gets ready to partake in the Champions League.
The match winner for his club, Kylian Mbappe was talked about by club president proceeding the triumph. Speaking about Mbappe who scored four times in two matches against Barcelona, PSG’s Nasser Al-Khelaifi said that both Mbappe and Neymar would be staying at PSG forever.
Both Neymar and Mbappe are yet to extend their ongoing contracts at PSG. While Neymar is set to be on the cusp of signing a new deal, Mbappe is said to be stalling with the player eyeing a potential move away from the club.
Nasser Makes Mbappe And Neymar’s Future Clear
However, in what was the biggest assertion of the duo’s future directly from PSG, Nasser ensured he left no lingering doubts with his straightforward statement.
“Mbappe and Neymar are currently Parisians and they will always remain Parisians“, said Nasser after his side’s 5-2 win across the two rounds.
The club’s director, Leandro had earlier talked about the club being in the final stages of extending Neymar’s deal at the club.
