Kevin James is synonymous with hilarious comical movies and funny antics. And now we’ll see James entertain all of the NFL world after it was announced he would play Saints HC Sean Payton in a new Netflix original called “Home Team”

The movie is said to be about Payton’s year out of the NFL when he coached his son’s 6th-grade football team. Sean Payton was suspended from the league for his involvement in the infamous Bounty Gate scandal.
Netflix to make a movie about Sean Payton’s year off.
NBC Sports’ Peter King revealed in his “Football Morning in America” column on Monday that the streaming platform is making a movie about Payton’s time coaching his son’s sixth-grade football team in 2012, when he was suspended from the NFL for his role in Bountygate.
The movie is set to be produced by Happy Madison Productions, which happens to be Adam Sandler’s production company. Kevin James has appeared in 8 Happy Madison, including hits like the Grown Ups Series.
Sean Payton’s suspension because of the Bounty Gate scandal
The New Orleans Saints Bounty Scandal was a scandal where New Orleans Saints were allegedly paid bonuses or “bounties” for injuring opposing NFL players. The scandal was supposedly carried on over a 2-year span between 2009 and 2011
Commissioner Roger Goodell put forth one of the strictest sanctions in league history. HC Sean Payton and DC Greg Williams were suspended for 1 year, The Saints were fined $500,000 and had to forfeit their second round draft picks in 2012 and 2013, and multiple players were suspended.
Thus Sean Payton spent a whole year out of the league. And When Payton was suspended, he served as the offensive coach for his son’s football team at Liberty Christian in Argyle, Texas. Payton also revealed that he wrote multiple original plays for the middle school team, and also used his NFL playbook as a basis for other plays.
Kevin James and Sean Payton seem to be worlds apart when it comes to personalities. But regardless, it should a very entertaining film to watch. The movie doesn’t have a release date yet, but we all will be eagerly waiting when it is announced.
