Peyton Manning, Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes is just about to enter his seventh NFL season, and the gunslinger is already in the GOAT debate. What he has accomplished in such a short period happens to be a dream for many, and he does not intend to stop anytime soon. Praising his dynamic skill sets and impressive footwork, NFL analyst Chris Broussard made a damning announcement, placing Mahomes above greats like Peyton Manning and Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Looking at the current pace, the Chiefs quarterback is sure to break innumerable records. It won’t be a surprise if he supersedes the legacy of Tom Brady and scripts a new one in the coming years. According to Broussard, he doesn’t require great players to win games but possesses the ability to make the best use of available resources.

Patrick Mahomes secured the third spot on Broussard’s all-time leaderboard

The gunslinger had become everyone’s favorite ever since he clinched the second championship title of his career in 2023. It was a close game, and despite all the setbacks, the Chiefs managed to take the victory home. All thanks to the master plan devised by Mahomes and coach Andy Reid for the last year.

The NFL analyst, who was impressed by the quarterback’s success, claimed that he is better than Hall of Famer Peyton Manning. He claimed that Mahomes is already in the GOAT debate and wants to give him a third position behind Tom Brady and Joe Montana.

“Patrick Mahomes is 3rd best right now. It is Tom Brady, Joe Montana, and Patrick Mahomes — that’s it. I have him ahead of Peyton Manning. Mahomes is the show. It is about Mahomes and Andy Reid.” Broussard said on live television. He also added that the gunslinger doesn’t require star players to win titles. He didn’t have Tyreek Hill on his side, and many players suffered season-ending injuries. All these bummers couldn’t stop him from being in title contention.

How do the statistics look for Mahomes compared to the other legends?

After getting drafted in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft, the Chiefs passer played as a backup in his rookie season. Six years down the line, Mahomes has the second-most passing yards (24,241) in league history. Per Fox Sports, he ranks second in passing touchdowns, which are far ahead of Peyton Manning’s score of 167.

When it comes to completion percentage (66.3), the 27-year-old has surpassed Aaron Rodgers and Manning in this race. There is still a lot to do for Mahomes to engrave his name on that list. But he is not far from achieving this feat.
