“Can’t Play Dead in a Horror Movie”: Shannon Sharpe Blasts Zach Wilson After Jets' Loss Against the Cowboys

Zach Wilson, the Jets’ starting quarterback, was replaced by Chris Streveler near the end of the third quarter of Thursday night’s 19-3 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It was the latest depressing chapter in the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft’s two-season tenure for the Jets, whose chances of making the playoffs were severely damaged by their fourth straight loss.

Wilson won’t be leaving New York anytime soon, according to head coach Robert Saleh, despite a terrible performance that was so marred by jeers that not even the evening’s steady rain could drown them out.

Wilson was benched five weeks ago in favor of Mike White, a former Dallas Cowboys fifth-round pick who sparked the offense. Now he is replaced on Thursday night by a journeyman whose claim to fame was three come-from-behind wins in the preseason.

Pat McAfee Reacts on Chris Streveler replacing Zach Wilson

McAfee, the former NFL player who is now a massive name in broadcasting, discussed Zach Wilson’s replacement in the most recent episode of the Pat McAfee show.

Pat believes that Zach Wilson can resurrect his career by joining another team, such as the Rams. Regardless, learning should be Zach’s top priority. Pat further said  “If Zach goes to other teams, he will have to figure out many things.” Pat Agreed that he is not an experienced player, but he still lacks in many areas and needs to focus more on learning.

The panel also agreed that while Zach has all of the physical abilities in the world, he still needs to work on his defense. They also believe that Zach’s teammates have been supportive of him throughout the season.

Pat stated that being a quarterback in the NFL is the most dangerous thing to do, not because of the physical work, but because of the mental pressure of the team and the situation in which the quarterback must maintain good relationships with everyone on the team.

Wilson completed only nine of his 18 passes for 92 yards and one interception, which came on a last-ditch attempt before halftime. His overall QBR was 5.2. After their fourth straight loss, the Jets’ chances of making the playoffs were all but over.
