"He's got more velocity than Tom Brady & Joe Montana": Skip Bayless Goes All Out While Praising Bryce Young & Shannon Sharpe Isn't Complaining

The expectations were sky high for Alabama product Bryce Young when he registered for the NFL draft. As many expected, he got selected by the Carolina Panthers as a first overall pick during the marquee event. The management had to pay a steep price to acquire the first overall pick, and now it is his responsibility to salvage the current situation of this team. While the chatter has already begun, hardcore Tom Brady fan Skip Bayless made some bold predictions, reserving a special place for this youngster.

Young happened to be a sensational athlete in the college world, and his phenomenal performance garnered interest from several NFL teams. He was expected to go off the board in the top three picks. Likewise, he didn’t disappoint the crowd, and the Panthers scooped him.

Skip Bayless makes surreal comparisons between Bryce Young and Tom Brady

The 21-year-old signal-caller has broken all the existing college records, and now this first-overall pick becomes an added achievement to his vast list of accolades. Indeed, he will cherish it forever, but there is so much work for him to do. Bayless believes he is the perfect guy for the job, and GM Scott Fitterer made the right decision betting on this gunslinger.

“A fresh face in Carolina. Bryce Young, they paid a steep price for him, and it will be worth every last ounce. He is very special to me, and I’ve watched him a whole lot,” Bayless said in the latest episode of UNDISPUTED with Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe on the other side.

“I think he has more velocity than [Tom] Brady or [Joe] Montana had, and again, they did just fine with pretty good arms, but he has a little better off than those guys had. Because he can sling it, man, right with some serious velocity,” he added.

The analyst was so sure of Young’s abilities that he couldn’t stop raving about the star. He is a Heisman Trophy winner and holds the college record for most passing yards in a single game. Hopefully, he will replicate a similar performance in the NFL arena. But a comparison with an NFL legend of Brady’s caliber is definitely something worth looking for.

Young speaks about his NFL draft experience

The grand stage of Kansas City brought chills to several athletes who were picked in the last two days. Indeed, it was a surreal moment, and getting picked in the first place happened to be a special moment. “It was a whirlwind of emotions being able to talk to the entire staff. That’s something I’ll cherish forever.” Young said this in the introductory press conference, per WCNC.

The Panthers gave up everything to acquire this star. They sacrificed wide receiver DJ Moore and multiple first and second-round picks for the No 1 spot. The deal also included future-round picks. Now the entire burden is on Young to change the landscape of this franchise. It will be interesting to see his progress in the coming days.
