Nicolas Pepe to Arsenal

Nicolas Pepe to Arsenal: Arsenal and Manchester United are both interested in the signature of Lille winger Nicolas Pepe.

Arsenal underwent a minor summer overhaul under new head coach Unai Emery in the summer transfer window. The Gunners made five signings, and also parted ways with Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla.

It seems, however, that Unai Emery is set to enter the transfer market in January as well, and has already identified a wing-man for the club. Arsenal have set their eyes on Lille’s winger, Nicolas Pepe.

TalkSPORT reports that Arsenal will likely be in race to sign the winger, and will face stiff competition from Manchester United. Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing the winger at Old Trafford.

Nicolas Pepe has made a strong start to his French league campaign, bagging up three assists and scoring four goals in the first six matches.

According to TalkSPORT, Pepe has admitted that he might consider offers from top European clubs. The French media also reports that the two Premier League will battle it out in the transfer market for the winger.

Both the managers are “confident of thrashing out a deal for the in-demand Lille star,” claims the media outlet.

Arsenal are currently sixth in the Premier League table, with their campaign back on track after two successive opening losses in the Premier League. The Gunners will aim to register their sixth consecutive victory tonight when they face Brentford in the Carabao Cup round.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are enduring a tough time, both in and outside the field. Jose Mourinho’s side are currently 7th in the league with 10 points from six matches, and were knocked out by Derby County in the Carabao Cup on penalties.

Mourinho’s relationship with midfielder Paul Pogba is also seemingly on the rocks, with the manager stripping Pogba off of captaincy of the club.
