Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms new Manchester United captain after Ashley Young departure to Inter Milan closes in.
Ashely Young took over from Antonio Valencia as Manchester United captain after Valencia left the club in the summer. However, with Young closing in on a move to Inter Milan, the club have decided to name their new captain.

Manchester United have a few players that could be tasked with leading the side on the field. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not taken very long to name his new captain and did so in an interview with Sky Sports‘ Geoff Shreeves ahead of their match against Liverpool.

“Harry is wearing the captain’s armband and will keep wearing it,” said Solskjaer.
“He’s come in and been a leader in the group. I’ve been impressed by his leadership skills.”
“Everything about him tells me he’s a leader. He’s part of a group that we’ve had that have been leading this young group.”
Solskjaer also spoke on his departing captain and why he left the club.
“He (Young) is 35 in the summer and if he gets a two-year contract somewhere it’s up to him to take that,” said Solskjaer.
“We weren’t ready to offer that. He’s been a good servant for the club, he’s been captain, he’s won trophies. But we’ve got players coming through.
Ashley Young spent eight and a half years at Old Trafford. He joined the club as a winger before becoming a makeshift fullback. He is due a medical, pending which, he will become an Inter Milan player. Harry Maguire, on the other hand, will begin life as a full-time Manchester United captain against Arch Rivals Liverpool.
