A young, dedicated kid who aspired to be like Sachin Tendulkar; not only managed to play for India but is the current captain of the squad. The man known for his aggression, his never giving up spirit and his dashing looks; the man himself – Virat Kohli. He is going to be honoured with Padma Shri this year! So proud of him!! Opportunity and breakthrough
Since cricket is more popular a sport in India, we are all well versed with his name. Virat began playing cricket in school then went on to play Ranji trophy( representing Delhi) and gradually progressed to Under-19 Indian team.
He was the captain of this team. It was during this period that Virat lost his father to a heart stroke. The very next day, he walked on the pitch and scored a century. (Padma Shri Virat Kohli !)
What a phenomenal young man! Despite the delicate situation, his contribution to his team was remarkable and well received by the people. How could the Indian cricket A- team ignore this achievement! This not only made heads turn but also became his entry ticket to Team India. For him, a dream come true!
After a couple setbacks in the beginning, he struggled to remain a part of the team. His breakthrough century was against Sri Lanka in 2010. Since then, he has made sure that he maintains an impressive form.
He has been double lucky; he plays the sport that he loves and got to play with the man he idolizes. It was Sachin Tendulkar who inspired him to create a career in Sports. He was fortunate enough to be in amazing form and made it to the World Cup team in 2011. I have to say, we slayed it!!
It wasn’t just the player’s that cried, our entire nation wept happy tears! After all the years of continuous effort and his spirit for the game; he was promoted to the much deserved spot, vice captain. He made sure he had an impressive form. (Padma Shri Virat Kohli !)
Captain: Too hot?
After a shocking step down by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Kohli ascended to skipper of the team. Currently, he is the captain of Team India for all formats of play (Test, ODIs and T20s).He began his career under Dhoni’s hood and today, he has to step into his shoes and manage the team. I am sure he will delegate and work for the better of India, cricket team and his fellow sportsmen.
After becoming the skipper, we have won Test and ODI series against England. Today was our first T20 match and India lost by 7 wickets. Our next match is on 29 January, Sunday. Good luck!
Be it personal or professional, we know one thing about Virat that he doesn’t give up!
