PlayStation has revealed that X button is called a cross which has made fans infuriated.
If you have already played PlayStation before, ‘X’ could be the most-used button. That familiar button will be the primary one in almost every game, with FIFA serving an utmost example. Majority of the people use that key to pass the ball.
However, PlayStation has revealed that there’s no such thing called ‘X’ button.
Now, at this point, people might find it ridiculous. But, people at PlayStation have come forward to deny the existence of the ‘X’ button – claiming it a ‘cross’ button.
Taking to Twitter, PlayStation UK said: “Triangle. Circle. Cross. Square. If Cross is called X (it’s not), then what are you calling Circle?”

While there’s a mere mention of the cross button, there’s a rationale behind it. It implies that the distance between two buttons are the same, unlike with an ‘X’.
Because this debate grinds my gears, I’ll finish it once and for all:
– Crosses have the same distance between each stick.
– Crosses form a square.– Exes don’t have the same distance between each stick.
– Exes form a rectangle.Basic geometry. pic.twitter.com/gz8jCJd3Bn

So there you go, tough to argue with geometry, maths, shapes or indeed PlayStation, isn’t it?
But if all this cross talk is making you, well, cross, then take a moment to consider the proposed name below:
Actually it’s called “fork” pic.twitter.com/CG2TQbyz9Q

A poll of over 145,000+ respondents has revealed that more than four-fifths of us call it the ‘X’ button.
What do you call it?

A majority of the gamers have rejected the new word ‘cross’, and named it ‘x’, giving no precedence to geometry.
